Bu fotoğrafik birleşimler, ilişkiler, anılar, aile olma duygum, yaşlanma ve ölüm gibi beni şekillendiren duygularımı keşfetme isteğimden oluşuyor. Bu süreç tabii ki tamamiyle kişisel bir süreçtir.
Her insanın özü; tarihsel devri, cinsiyeti, etnik karakteri, kültürü, aile geçmişi ve deneyimleri gibi pek çok faktörün bir sonucudur. Sanatım, aile tarihimi araştırmak ve bu yolla kendi yaşamımla bağlantılar kurmak için bir vesiledir. Şekilleri yanyana koyarak, nesneler ve kısa ömürlü şeyler bularak sembolik hale gelen, kişisel tarih ve zamanda geçiş duygusu taşıyan otobiyografik ilişkiler yaratırım.
Eski materyalleri yeniden kullanmak, onları yeni bir formda tekrar canlandırmamı sağlar. Atılan malzemelerin yeniden tanzim edilmesi; geri dönüşüm, yeniden doğuş ve onlardan tekrar faydalanmaktır. Yaşları ve durumları onların geçmiş varlıklarının doğasını tam olarak ifade ederler. Resmettiğim insanların yüzleri gibi, yaşarken dünyada harcadıkları zamana ait yoğun bir mesaj aktarırlar. Onlar sadece parçalardır ama bir duyguyu, bir ifadeyi, yaşanmış bir hayatı tarif ederler.

These photographic assemblages come from my desire to explore my life through the things that have shaped me; relationships, memories, my sense of family, rites of passage, aging and death. The process is, of course, an implicitly personal one.
The sum of every person is the result of a multitude of factors, their historical era, gender, ethnicity, culture, family background and experience. My art is a means for me to research my family’s history, and through it make connections to my own life. Through the juxtaposition of images, found objects and ephemera, I create autobiographical associations that become symbolic, conveying a sense of personal history and the passage of time.
The reusing of old materials allows me to resurrect them into a new form. In the reordering of discarded materials is recycling, rebirth, a continuation of their usefulness. Their age and condition express the very nature of their past existence. It relays the condensed message of their time spent in the world of the living, much like the faces of the people I portray. They are mere fragments, but they can begin to describe a feeling, an expression, a life spent.
David PRIFTI David Prifti, 20 yılı aşkın süredir sanatçı ve eğitmendir. Mass Sanat Koleji'nden mezundur ve Yale Üniversitesi' nde master yapmıştır. Çalışmaları, New York'taki Modern Sanatlar Müzesi de dahil pek çok kamu ve özel koleksiyonlarda sergilenmiştir. Sanat Cemiyeti' nden Ulusal bir bağış ve Massachussetts Kültür Komisyonu Finalist Bursiyerliği de dahil olmak üzere çeşitli burslar ve ödüller kazanmıştır. Çalışmaları, Boston' da bulunan NAGA Galerisi ve Provincetown' daki Rice/Polak Galerileri tarafından sergilenmektedir.

About David PRIFTI
David Prifti has been an artist and teacher for over 20 years. He holds a BFA from Mass College of Art and an MFA from Yale University. His work is widely exhibited and is in numerous public and private collections, including the MOMA in NY, and the MFA in Houston. He has received grants and awards including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and a Massachusetts Cultural Council Finalist Grant. He is represented by Gallery NAGA in Boston, and the Rice/Polak Gallery in Provincetown.
