"I have spent my lifetime taking photographs. The photograph fulfils my deep need to stop things from disappearing. It makes transience less painful and retains some of the special magic, which I have looked for and found. I have tried to create order out of chaos, to find stability in flux and beauty in the most unlikely places."

Madeira, 19831924 Konisberg,Doğu Prusya’da , Yahudi asıllı Litvanyalı bir ailede doğdu.
1939 Nazi tehdidinden kaçmak için İngiltere’ye eğitimini tamamlamaya yollandı.
1942 Manchester Teknoloji Üniversitesi’nden mezun oldu. Manchester merkezinde önde gelen bir portre stüdyosunda çalıştı.
1945 Louis Bohm ile evlendi.
1946 Manchester’de Stüdyo Alexander’ı açtı.
1947 İsviçre’deki Ascona’ya sık sık ziyaret etti (1952’ye kadar)
1948 İsrail’e ilk ziyaret
1953 Paris’te yaşadı ve Avrupa’ya yoğun seyahatler yaptı (öyle de devam etmesini umuyor)
1955 New York ve San Francisco’da yaşadı.A merika Birleşik Devletleri ve Meksika’ya çok fazla seyahat etti. AGFA renkli filmi denedi ama siyah beyaz çalışmaya devam etti.
1956 Kuzey Londra’da Hampstead’e yerleşti ve halen orada yaşamakta.
1957 Kızı Monica doğdu.
1960 Kızı Yvonne doğdu.
1961 SSCB’yi ziyaret etti ve Moskova ile Leningrad’ı fotoğrafladı.
1971 Londra Fotoğrafçılar Galerisi’nin ortak kurucusu ve sonraki 15 yıl boyunca müdür yardımcılığını yaptı.
1974 Güney Afrika’ya gitti.
1980 BBC2 ‘de Dorothy Bohm-Fotoğrafçı belgeseli. SX70 Polaroid kamera ile Focus Fotoğrafçılık Galeri’sini kurdu, renkli film denemeleri.
1985 Ağırlıklı olarak renkli film ile çalışmaya başladı. Singapur, Hong Kong, Tayvan ve Japonya’yı ziyaret etti.
1986-1987 Mısır ziyareti
1981 Venedik’e pek çok seyahat
1995’de Mark Haworth-Booth kendisiyle İngiliz Fotoğrafçılığı’nın sözlü tarihi, Ulusal Ses Arşivi, İngiliz Kütüphanesi, Londra için röportaj yaptı
1998 Londra Bloomsbury’de Focus Fotoğraf Galerisi’ni kurdu
1924 Born in Konigsberg, East Prussia, into Jewish-Lithuanian family.
1939 To escape threat of Nazism, was sent to England to finish her schooling.
1942 Graduated from Manchester College of Technology. Worked in leading portrait studio in central Manchester.
1945 Married Louis Bohm.
1946 Opened “Studio Alexander” in Manchester.
1947 Frequent visits (until 1952) to Ascona in the Ticino, Switzerland.
1948 First visit to Israel.
1953 Lived in Paris, travelled extensively in Europe (and would continue to do so).
1955 Lived in New York and San Francisco; travelled extensively in USA and Mexico. Experimented with AGFA colour film, but continued to work in black and white.
1956 Settled in Hampstead, North London, where she still lives.
1957 Daughter Monica born.
1960 Daughter Yvonne born.
1961 Visited the USSR; photographed in Moscow & Leningrad.
1971 Co-founder of The Photographers’ Gallery, London, and its Associate Director for next 15 years.
1974 Visited South Africa.
1980 BBC2 Television documentary Dorothy Bohm-Photographer. Experimented with colour photography, using SX70 Polaroid camera.
1985 Started to work exclusively with colour film. Visited Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan.
1986 & 1987 Visited Egypt.
1991 Several visits to Venice.
1995 Interviewed by Mark Haworth-Booth for the Oral History of British Photography, National Sound Archive, British Library, London.
1998 Founded Focus Gallery for Photography, Bloomsbury, London.
