Mark Sink

Fotoğrafçı, küratör ve öğretmen Mark Sink,  1978’den beri güzel sanat fotoğrafçılığından geçimini sağlamakta. Diana marka oyuncak plastik kamerasıyla oluşturduğu görüntüler ile tanınıyor. Şu sıralar aynı zamanda eski bir teknoloji olan kolodyum (ıslak cam levha) fotoğraflar üretiyor. Kişisel çalışmaları ABD, Güney Amerika ve Avrupa’da birçok müze koleksiyonunun yanı sıra;  kişisel ve karma sergilerde, galerilerde yer almaktadır. Şu sıralar Kaliforniya’da G.Ray Hawkins, New York’ta Robin Nice, Philadelphia’da Paul Cava ve Denver’da Rule Gallery tarafından temsil edilmektedir. Güzel sanat fotoğrafçısı olarak Andy Warhol,  Jean Michel Basquiat ve Rene Richard gibi tanınmış sanatçıların hayatlarını ve işlerini belgelemiştir.

Ben bir romantiğim. Güzellik için deli olurum. Çalışmalarım akıldan çok yürekle ilgilidir. Herkes daha fazla mega piksel için yarışırken ben eski teknolojiden hoşlanırım. Güzel sanat fotoğrafçılığı kariyerimde oyuncak plastik kameralar, Polaroid ve iğne deliği kullanıyorum. Son olarak kolodyumu (ıslak cam levha) keşfettim. Estetik düşünceme çok uygun düşüyor. Elektrik kullanmamayı ve pahalı fotoğraf endüstrisinin ve onun yandaşı yazılım mafyasının pençesinde olmamayı seviyorum. Büyükbabamın 120 yıl evvel kullandığı makineyi kullanmayı ve ellerimle fotoğraf banyo etmenin sihrini izlemekten büyük memnuniyet duyuyorum.

Mark Sink, photographer, curator and teacher, has been and making a living from fine art photography since 1978. He is well known for his imagery made with the toy plastic camera the Diana. Currently, also a reverse technology, he is producing collodion wet plate photographs. His personal work is in numerous museum collections as well as gallery solo and group shows in the US, South America and Europe.  He is currently represented by G. Ray Hawkins in CA. Robin Rice in NY, Paul Cava in Philadelphia, Rule Gallery in Denver. As a photographer of fine art he worked with and documented noted artists lives and their work such as Andy Warhol and Jean Michel Basquiat and Rene Ricard. 

I am a romantic. I am crazy for beauty. My work is more for the heart then the head. I enjoy going reverse technology when everyone is racing for more megapixals. I have used toy plastic cameras, Polaroid and pinhole for most of my fine art photography career. Recently i have found colodion wet plate. It fits perfectly into my aesthetic. I love not using electricity or being in the grips of the expensive photographic industry and its side kick the software mafia. I get great satisfaction using a camera my great grand father used 120 years ago and watching the magic of a picture develop in your hand.
